Spotlight On St. Cloud During Governor’s Fishing Opener
ST. CLOUD -- For the first time in the 70 year history of the Governor's Fishing Opener, St. Cloud is in the spotlight.
Our Lake George community picnic is the public centerpiece of the event.
The event which is open to the public, is set for the Wednesday night before the May 11th opener.
Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Julie Lunning says it's the community's chance to show some VIPs the best of who we are.
"The Governor , Lt. Governor will be there, our media and sponsors, free food and great entertainment will make it a fantastic time for everyone."
Organizers expect as many as ten-thousand people at the community picnic.
The picnic is the night prior to the opener's first day, May 11th.
Over 550 members of the media, VIPs, and Politicians will be in town for the weekend. They are expected to bring around 4-5 millions worth of free press and marketing for our community.
This year's opener starts on Thursday, May 11th, and runs through Saturday, May 13th.
