Friday morning, a speeding semi truck illegally passed a stopped school bus on Highway 23 in Paynesville. We have an update for that story.

I brought you the story yesterday about the speeding semi driver who illegally passed a stopped school bus on Highway 23 near Paynesville New London.

The speeding semi passed the bus on the shoulder as the bus was stopped to pick up a sixth grade girl to take her to school. Thanks to you, the video has gone viral and now the Minnesota State Patrol says that the speeding semi driver has made contact with police.

Minnesota state law says that all vehicles must stop when a bus has its lights on and stop arm down. Failure to do so is a gross misdemeanor.

If you have any additional information about this incident, please contact Minnesota State Patrol Lt. Brian Reu at 651-405-6047.
