Retiring SCSU men's basketball coach Kevin Schlagel will lead the Huskies for the final time at Halenbeck Hall Wednesday night when his team opens the NSIC playoffs with a game against Sioux Falls.

Schlagel joined Jay Caldwell on WJON Wednesday morning to talk about his career and the playoff game. Schlagel says he is experiencing "mixed emotions" heading into the game.

Schlagel added that he will miss coaching basketball, but says reality hasn't quite sunk in at this point.

A 40-year veteran at SCSU as a player, assistant and head coach, Schlagel says that character was just as important when talent when he was recruiting.
