ST. CLOUD - St. Cloud area kids have the chance to try the sport trap shooting. The Sauk Rapids Sportsmen's Club is hosting their "8th Annual Youth Day At The Range" on Saturday.

Spokesman Jeff Diehl says it's important to the club to hold events like this.

The mission of the Sauk Rapids Sportsmen's Club is to promote youth education and conservation. It's a big part of what we do is promoting youth events like this.

Diehl says it's a sport that continues to grow in popularity in our area high schools.

The opportunity for trap shooting is set-up through the high schools so that they can actually participate in other sporting activities throughout the school year, and not miss out on anything.

Diehl says they get about 100 kids each year, but there's no limit on the number of kids.

The entire event is free. Eye and ear protection is required and will be provided.  A free lunch will also be provided.  All skill levels are welcome.

It starts at 9:00 a.m. at the Del-Tone/Luth Gun Club east of Highway 10 in St. Cloud.
