ST. CLOUD - With the early snowfall and chilly temperatures, Powder Ridge will be starting earlier than they ever have before.

The ski area will be opening Saturday and Sunday from noon until 6:00 p.m., the opening day of November 11th will break the previous record of November 12th.

Shelby Hedtke is an employee at Powder Ridge. She says they are thrilled about the early start.

"We are absolutely excited. The other closest opening date was November 12th, but we plan on beating that by opening on the 11th this season. We are super excited and ready to get the season started."

While they are opening earlier, Hedtke says they will have a limited number of runs open.

"As far as what runs we will have open we will have single seater and the beginner hill open. We will also have the J-bar, tow-row and quad chair running."

The resort will only be open for the weekend and will close on the weekdays to continue making snow.

Lift tickets will be $25 and rentals will be $20 for opening weekend.
