ST. CLOUD -- A sad ending to a story that captured the hearts of dog lovers everywhere. The Tri-County Humane Society says Remington, the yellow lab who was shot six times by a pellet gun in February has died.

According the Humane Society, Remy died today (Monday).

He began suffering seizures last Thursday. Staffers at the Humane Society took him to the emergency clinic after the seizures started and sedated him to get them under control. However, when the medication wore off the seizures returned.

Three local veterinarians examined Remy and suggested he see a specialist. He was brought to the University of Minnesota Neurology Department where he died shortly after arriving.

A necropsy will be completed to determine Remy's exact cause of death.
