Reba McEntire is using social media to keep fans updated on the health of her big brother, Pake, who suffered a stroke on May 14.

"We wanted to give you an update on Pake," she writes Friday (May 22), including a vintage photo along with her post. "This week we have seen small steps of improvement each day. (God is good and your prayers are definitely working!) This morning he opened his eyes and even watched a little bit of the news before going back to sleep."

"He is still not able to communicate verbally due to the tubes in his mouth but is moving his arms, legs, and opening his eyes on command," she continues. "On several occasions, the doctors have said that Pake doing extremely well from a neurological stand point. They are very happy with his progress for all that his body has endured over the past week."

"Pake's doctors would still like to keep visitation to a minimum for a few more days," McEntire concludes. "We will let you all know when that time comes. Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers as Pake continues to make progress!"

The country legend's brother was originally in the hospital for back surgery. While that procedure was a success, he suffered a stroke later that night.

“The stroke caused blood on the brain and swelling," McEntire shared on May 16. "He is currently in ICU, stable and recovering. We really appreciate all your thoughts and prayers."

Just like his little sister, Pake McEntire was once a popular country singer in his own right. He scored a Top 5 Billboard hit in 1986 with "Savin' My Love for You," but has since preferred to spend time working his ranch.

The past year has been a difficult one for the McEntire family — patriarch Clark passed away in October at the age of 86.
