The question of whether or not it's okay to re-gift comes up every year. I've heard valid arguments on both sides but my opinion has not changed.

Personally I think re-gifting is tacky and I would never do it myself.  If I got something I didn't want, I would find a way to get rid of it.  I would donate it or give it to someone I know could use it.  It would never be an actual gift for someone though.

That said I understand why people do it and let's be honest, it's a great way to save money.  That's fine as long as that doesn't become something you do all the time.  Yes, I know people who do and it's cheesy.  Maybe you get a knickknack of some sort that you have no use for but your friend would love it.  Good ahead and give it to him or her but don't present it as a gift and at the very least, not as the entire gift.

If I was okay with re-gifting, I would not make it a habit but as with every rule, there's always an exception.
