Yesterday we asked for your opinion--should Minnesota take in Syrian refugees? Here are the results of yesterday's survey;

Out of 1,119 votes; 992 people surveyed voted no, 100 people surveyed voted yes and 27 people surveyed were undecided.

Thus, the vast majority (88.7%) of our voters think that Minnesota should not take in Syrian refugees.

Minnesota is among a few states still undecided on the issue. A handful of states such as Georgia, Alabama, Illinois and New Hampshire have already taken a hard stance on the issue. They've decided not to allow Syrian refugees in their state.

Even though Minnesota is still undecided, our governor, Mark Dayton, was recently quoted in City Pages saying;

I think it’s showmanship on the part of these governors who pretend that they would be able to sanctify their borders so that only certain people can enter their state and other people can’t,” Dayton said. “I want to protect the people of Minnesota every bit as much as those governors want to be able to protect the people of their states. But to stand up there with swagger and say ‘Well, I’m going to prevent the wrong people from entering my state’ to me is just ludicrous.”

President Obama has announced that the United States will be taking in about 10,000 Syrian refugees next year.
