Police Make 19 Dinkytown Arrests Following Gopher Loss
Following last night’s 7-4 loss to Union College in the NCAA Men’s Hockey Championship, disappointed Minnesota Gopher fans spilled into the streets of Dinkytown despite warnings from University officials and police. Nineteen arrests were made, and the crowd was dispersed by late Saturday night.
Incidents of property damage and arson were reported, and responded to by police on horseback, on bikes, and in riot gear — occasionally shooting paint pellets at the raucous crowd.
On Thursday night, following Minnesota’s win over North Dakota, two officers were injured by bottle throwing members of the crowd. No officers were injured Saturday.
