The Minnesota Twins shut out the Royals 3-0 in Kansas City Wednesday night to avoid a sweep. The Twins are now 6-9 on the season, while the Royals fall to 11-4.

Mike Pelfrey had a strong start for Minnesota, lasting seven innings while allowing no runs on five hits and a pair of walks. Pelfrey struck out four Royals on his way to his first win since September of 2013.

Danny Santana, Torii Hunter, Joe Mauer and Brian Dozier each had two hits as the 1-4 batters in the Twins lineup combined to go 8-17 in the game. Minnesota scored all of their runs in the first inning.

Glen Perkins pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn his third save of the season.

The Twins are off Thursday before beginning a three game series in Seattle Friday night. Every Twins game in 2015 can be heard on AM 1240 WJON.
