I'm not a fur baby owner but I love animals. I don't have any pets of my own because I think they are messy, needy and they can be kind of expensive. Despite all of the reasons why I don't own one, a recent study found that having an animal is actually good for you.

1. Pet owners are less likely to feel lonely, it's a fact. Researchers at Idaho State University found that after people played with dogs, 60 percent of them reported they felt less lonely.

2. A study from Wisconsin State University found that children who have grown up with animals in their home were less likely to have allergies.

3. Having an animal can be really healthy for your heart. Yes, of course if you have a dog you're probably more likely to take them on walks--but, the same is true for cat owners. They were 40 percent less likely to have a heart attack. I've known my fair share of cat owners and I can't say that any of them have taken their cat's on walks. Do you know someone who has done this?
