A single mother of two teenage boys, would be a huge challenge on it's own, but this single mother of two is extremely strong and uplifting for her boys
who both have a rare metabolic disorder.

Opie's Angel Tree recognizes people who are very strong and hard working individuals... today, December 13, 2013... Opie's Angels grant a wish for a mother and her twin teenage boys who both have a rare metabolic disorder called, Glycogen Storage Disease or GSD.

Kathy, the mother of two teenage boys, was nominated by her dear friend, Nancy. Here is what Nancy's letter said...

"Kathy is a single mom with two teenage boys-both of whom have a rare metabolic disorder called Glycogen Storage Disease or GSD. While both boys have struggled with the disease, her one son, John has had additional issues stemming from this. Last March he went to Florida (this is where the national expert in GSD practices) where he had tumors removed from his liver. One tumor had malignant cells within it. He has been sick on and off since that surgery. As a junior, at Apollo High School, John has only been in school 13-full days as of two-weeks ago. He has been hospitalized numerous times during this period. He is now on a liver transplant list through the University of Minnesota. Kathy, as a single working mom, has had her hands full trying to deal with all that life has thrown at her. Any small gift you could provide would brighten her day. She is an incredible woman and deserves all the best!! Thanks."
