It's sad to think that one in six women will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime. Some of those assaults are results of being slipped a spiked drink. A new product will hopefully reduce that number.

Think about the last time you went to a bar/club. Maybe someone bought you a drink. How well do you know that person? Possibly it was the first encounter you have had with them. Will you drink it? What if something was put into it like GHB? Will you wake up the next morning and not remember being assaulted?

A new invention is going to bring those concerns to a much lower level very soon. It's called the Anti-Date Rape Straw and it is being developed by Israeli scientists. It is a reusable straw that will detect drugs in your drink. It will change color and alert the user that there are drugs in the drink.

Basically you can take the straw with you wherever you go and just drop it into that "free" drink and know immediately if there's something in there that you don't want to drink. It should go into production later this year. If I had it my way, I would pre-order them for you right now.
