Just two days before the biggest race of the season, NASCAR yesterday suspended driver Kurt Busch amid allegations of domestic violence. The Daytona 500 runs tomorrow in Florida.  A Delaware judge said Busch likely choked and beat a former girlfriend. Busch is being represented by Adrian Peterson's attorney Rusty Hardin.

The suspension is Busch's third in his NASCAR career. He was last suspended in 2012 for threatening a reporter. He was also sidelined in 2005.

Busch denies the allegations, and has appealed NASCAR's suspension. Chevrolet immediately put its relationship with Busch on hold Friday. The judge issued a no-contact order, prohibiting Busch from contacting his former girlfriend. The alleged assault is part of an ongoing criminal investigation, and is said to have taken place in Dover last September.

Regan Smith will drive Busch's #41 car in Sunday's Daytona 500 for Stewart-Haas Racing.
