Some people really like to go all out for Halloween, their house is decorated to the hilt and you get the creeps just walking up to it.  That was the case for me one year when I was trick-or-treating and it was scary enough where I still remember it to this day.

When I was a kid, my mom and dad would bring us to see my grandparents on Halloween. They didn't live too far apart and we'd trick-or-treat in their neighborhoods.  My mom's mom lived in St. Louis Park so going door to door was easy because all the houses are so close together.

I think it might have been the year of the big Halloween blizzard that we went to check out this house that was all decked out for Halloween.  It was a dark brown, they had cobwebs, headstones and I think even some weird noises coming from the house.  I made my mom walk up to the door with me.  I rang the doorbell and....no one answered.  Okay, whew that was a close one, right?

I was so excited to be getting out of there, the place freaked me out so bad!  So, I'm practically racing down the steps when someone said to wait.  I turn around and here is this man dressed up as Dracula, stepping out of a coffin to give me candy.  I don't think I've ever had a meltdown that was as bad as that one.  I remember screaming and trying to run away.  It was crazy.

Obviously, I'm a little embarrassed now because none of it was real but as a kid, that was terrifying.  I wish I could see it again to know if my younger self should have been scared and kudos to the people that own the house for their awesome decorating job!

What was your most terrifying Halloween experience?
