Over the weekend I decided to make a batch of chocolate chip cookies. To any normal person this would have been no big deal, but I was on a mission with something to prove.

A year or two ago I made a batch of chocolate chip cookies for my mom. I brought them over to her house and asked her to try them.

She proceeded to ask me what I did to them because they were terrible (It wasn't as harsh as it sounds...or maybe it was lol).

She said, "They were so disgusting I threw them right in the trash." My younger sisters think that it was one of the most hilarious moments ever.

Since that moment, I've been trying to find the perfect cookie recipe and figure out what I did differently that made them so horrible before.

After learning that the order of ingredients matters when baking and that I should use shortening instead of butter, all seems to be right with the world. I made a fresh batch of cookies and I saved a few for my mom. (What now mom?!) I am bringing them over to her house later today to prove that I do know how to make chocolate chip cookies!

I think they are good, my boyfriend says he can vouch for me but my mom will be the ultimate test.

Do you have a great cookie recipe that I can try?
