ST. CLOUD -- The Mississippi River will be two-feet lower starting Sunday.

City Engineer Steven Foss says the draw-down will be upstream of the St. Cloud Hydroelectric Facility.

The draw-down is in relation to the current project to replace the old manual trip-gates with new automated ones.

When the water flow is high in the spring, the gates would be tripped open and stay open until staff could safely raise them manually.

The project began in July 2016 and is slated to be completed toward the end of February. The draw-down will continue through Wednesday, February 22nd.
