Happy World Wish Day! This holiday started in 1980 after a police department granted the wish of a boy who was diagnosed with leukemia.

Chris Greicious was seven years old when his wish of being a police officer for one day came true. His local police force started up the Make-A-Wish foundation the following year.

According to Make-A-Wish foundation, a child is diagnosed with a life threatening illness every 38 minutes.

Numerous country music artists including Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, Luke Bryan and more have paired up with the foundation to make children's dreams come true.

On this day, the Make-A-Wish foundation raises awareness for children who have a limited number of days by collecting donations to help make their dreams come true.
