This is the eighth time the Wild have reached the playoffs since the team joined the league in 2001, and the fifth straight year in the post-season. Minnesota lost in the Western Conference finals in 2003 for their best post-season performance to date.

The winner of the Minnesota/St. Louis series will advance to the second round to face the winner of the Chicago/Nashville series.
