The Minnesota Wild (45-24-8) beat the Ottawa Senators (41-26-9) 5-1 last night in St. Paul. Despite having the NHL's worst record in March, the Wild have clinched a playoff spot with five regular season games remaining.

This will be Minnesota's fifth straight playoff appearance, and eighth overall. It is still to be determined who the Wild's first round opponent will be. If the playoffs started today the Minnesota would face Mike Yeo and the St. Louis Blues in the opening series.
