The Minnesota Wild open the 2016-17 campaign tonight against the St. Louis Blues tonight in the Gateway City. Last season the Wild finished with a record of 38-33, making the playoffs, but losing in the first round. With new head coach Bruce Boudreau, there's a sense of optimism.

The State of Hockey's home opener for the Wild is this Saturday night (10/15) against the Winnipeg Jets.

The Chicago Blackhawks (boooooo) are the preseason favorite to win the Stanley Cup in 2017, with 6-1 odds to take home the hardware. The Wild are listed at 25-1, or 14th out of the 30 teams. (So you're saying there's a chance?)

The 2016-17 NHL season officially got underway last night with four games on the opening night schedule. The Stanley Cup Champion will be crowned in June of 2017. Enjoy the season!

Tonight's game can be seen on Fox Sports North (Charter 824), and heard on 1240 WJON.

Go Wild!
