Minnesota Twins Open 2015 Season This Afternoon In Detroit
The Minnesota Twins open their 2015 campaign this afternoon against the Detroit Tigers in the Motor City. After multiple 90+ loss season, fans like me are longing for something positive to get excited about -- but the odds of that happening this year are a long-shot.
The Twins will be starting their first season without Ron Gardenhire as manager since 2001, but a team led by Paul Molitor is something I'm looking forward to. Nothing against Gardy, but it was time for a change.
Phil Highes, who went 16-10 last year with a 3.52 ERA will get the start for the Twins against Detroit's David Price.
On Friday, Major League Baseball suspended Minnesota's number-two starter Ervin Santana for the first half of the season due to a positive test for PEDs. That certainly won't help the cause. Mike Pelfry was added to the roster in his place.
The Minnesota Twins are currently at 120/1 to win the 2015 World Series. The Washington Nationals are the favorite at 6/1.
The home opener at Target Field is set for next Monday (4/13) against the Kansas City Royals at 3:10 PM. (Yes, I will be there.)
Today's game can be heard starting at Noon on 1240 WJON, or on TV via Fox Sports North.
Go Twins!
