Minnesota Man’s Video Of Deer Rescue Spreads On Social Media

GOLDEN VALLEY - A video of a Duluth man rescuing a deer from a frozen river is spreading on social media.

Steven Peterson pulled the deer from the Kettle River in Pine County on Monday. He says the animal was frantic, with icicles hanging from its face, so he had to do something.

Peterson, who is deaf, through a sign-language interpreter said that he recorded the rescue with his iPhone not with the idea of gaining fame, but in case he fell into the water so that people would know what happened when they came looking for him.

Peterson says it took about 20 minutes to pull the deer out with a long strap. After watching the video he decided to upload it to Reddit, and it spread quickly from there.
