Minnesota Man Gets Second Chance at First Love [VIDEO]

A Park Rapids, Minnesota man is reunited with his first love on national TV. 

Steve McCoyne and Nancy Hamre spent four hours talking on a back porch at a party in 1989 and it was all they needed to set the wheels in motion, but there was just one problem: Steve was leaving for six months for a stint on the USS Enterprise and Nancy was still in high school.

After Steve left, they wrote letters. Hundreds of them. Back and forth. Then one day, Nancy, who was still in school in Oregon had found someone she wanted to date. She had to write a breakup letter to Steve, which she described as "awful".

The pair lost touch for about 10 years and then came social media.

The two reconnected and planned to meet up in Minnesota this fall, but Good Morning America wanted to speed things along.
