We are like the popular girl that everyone has a crush on, but she only has eyes for the quarterback who doesn't give her the time of day.

A new map of the US has been drawn with stats fed to @MattSurelee on Instagram from 385K followers. Matt polled these people asking them what other state their state loved the most. Minnesota did well.

The Land of 10,000 Lakes had four states vying for our attention; North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. But we didn't return the love because apparently Minnesota's favorite other state is Canada, which last I checked wasn't a state.

I have a theory on this. I think we chose Canada not because we think we're too good for the rest of the Midwest, but because we would rather look dumb picking a totally different country than admit we actually like one of our neighbors.

We make fun of the Dakotas, Wisconsin, and Iowa all the time, and admitting we like them would ruin the fun of ripping on them.

Other Midwest states when Minnesota compliments instead of mocks them:

We wouldn't want that to happen. So instead we pick our favorite state in a different country.

My other theory is that we are too nice to pick one and risk hurting the other state's feelings. While I believe Minnesota Nice is a real thing, I'm leaning more towards the first theory being correct.
