The Department of Natural Resources is raising the warning flag on ice conditions across Central Minnesota for the holiday season, as warm temps have caused deteriorating ice conditions.

Recent warm weather has caused ice to be thinning, as opposed to a normal year when ice would be thickening at this point in the season. We have seen nine days of above average temperatures in the middle of this December.

As friends and family gather for the holiday season, it's important to realize that your usual skating spot may be unsafe this year. Even in the best conditions, ice is never 100% safe.
