Every since Billy Ray Cyrus had his heyday in country music in the 1990s, country fans have seen Miley Cyrus grow up right before their eyes. And now the pop princess about to take a major leap into adulthood: She’s getting married! The former Disney star-turned-singer Miley Cyrus is engaged, planning to tie the knot with Liam Hemsworth, her boyfriend of three years.

And, no, this isn’t just fodder for gossip columnists: Cyrus’ PR rep confirmed the details with People this morning.

The ‘Party in the U.S.A.’ hitmaker met her future husband on the set of the 2009 film, ‘The Last Song.’ The 22-year-old Australian actor popped the question on May 31 with a 3.5 carat diamond ring (purchased from jeweler Neil Lane).

“I’m so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam,” 19-year-old Cyrus told People.

It’s hard to say when the busy couple will settle down and exchange vows. Right now, Cyrus is clocking hours in the studio, preparing to release a new album. Meanwhile, Hemsworth is in New Orleans filming ‘Empire State.’ Once the film wraps, he’ll start shooing ‘Paranoia’ with Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman. Following that, the rising star will begin working on the second ‘Hunger Games’ film.

For full details of the engagement — including snapshots of Miley’s ring — pick up the newest issue of People magazine on newsstands this Friday. For now, we’re left wondering if the daughter of legendary country singer Billy Ray Cyrus will have a down-home country wedding or if she’ll party in L.A. like she sings about in her pop songs.
