Memorial Day 2017 is Monday, May 29, and in honor of our nation's fallen heroes there are a few parades and ceremonies scheduled for our area. Here are the Memorial Day events scheduled for this weekend.

National Moment of Remembrance 

Americans are encouraged to take one minute moment of silence at 3 p.m. local time to remember those who have died serving the country.

State Veterans Cemetery - Little Falls Memorial Day Program

The event kicks off at 1:30 p.m. on May 28 with an instrumental prelude by Richfield Symphonic Band. The formal program starts at 2 p.m. with the placing of memorial wreaths in the Fallen Soldier ceremony by the Korean War Veterans Minnesota Chapter 1, followed by a rifle salute by the Memorial Rifle Squad.  The featured guest speaker is Sergeant Major James Kampsen. The Military Museum at Camp Ripley will also be open to the public.

St. Cloud VA Memorial Day Parade/Ceremony

On Monday, May 29 the St. Cloud VA will be celebrating Memorial Day with a parade that starts at 10:30 a.m. The parade runs from Building 111 to Building 92. There's a ceremony after the parade which includes guest speaker Jim Kampsen, CSM (Retired) Army/Chief of Voluntary Service.

Sartell American Legion Post 277

The Sartell American Legion Post 277 is hosting a Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 29 at 9 a.m. in Sartell.
