Meet Ken Schroeder from Akeley, he’s our February ‘Veteran of the Month.’ Schroeder was nominated by his daughter Hope, who had this to say about him;

I'm nominating my father because I am very proud to be his daughter. He served in the Vietnam war. A few years ago he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, linked back to agent orange. He fought and won. I'm proud to say I followed in his footsteps and joined the national guard when I was in 11th grade. I am proud to say he's the most amazing father and husband to my Mom! He's so spunky and wonderful.

Ken joined the volunteer draft into the service in 1964 and served until 1966. He's served in the Vietnam war just as the United States was peaking in it's involvement. While in a fox hole in Vietnam, he wrote a poem:
