Meet Josh Brummond from Alexandria, he’s our July ‘Veteran of the Month.’ Brummond was nominated by his spouse Karla who had this to say about him;

I nominate my husband, SSG Brummond, because I am beyond proud of him and who he is today... I am proud to call him my husband, and our boys are proud to call him dad."

Brummond has been a member of the Minnesota Army National Guard for 16 years. He has two deployments under his belt--Iraq in 2004 and Kuwait in 2009.

Karla says Brummond's passion for the military and his brothers and sisters in uniform is remarkable. In his daily life, Brummond is the Veterans Service Officer (VSO) for Douglas County and has become a certified Suicide Intervention Officer to assist with the daily struggles found in our nation's armed forces.

Recently, he has also started doing some volunteer speaking for his unit, local organizations and for the local police department.  He shares his own story, his own struggles, and explains how the reintegration process can be hard on families.

The ‘Veteran of the Month’ is brought to you by the Clearwater Travel Plaza – on 98-1 Minnesota’s New Country.
