LoCash didn't just chuckle when they were nominated for New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year at the 2017 ACM Awards, they kind of laughed. The duo of Chris Lucas and Preston Brust didn't even know that after nearly a decade and nine radio singles, they were still eligible.

Yes, it's been a long, slow ride for the "Ring on Every Finger" artists. They seemed to squat at every stop on the busline to fame and fortune, only to work their way out. The ups came with downs, and at least once they truly questioned their future. Now, after back-to-back No. 1 hits, an ACM nomination and more industry accolades, LoCash are looking forward to taking it easy ...

... when they're dead. “My wife would tell me I was off," Lucas tells Taste of Country, "She’d be like ‘What’s wrong with you today?’”

“I feel like even if we were on the biggest label in the world, we wouldn’t turn it off," Brust adds. "It’s in our blood, it’s in our fabric to not stop.”

They have, however, adjusted to make time for family. Both men are married with kids — in fact, Lucas revealed to Taste of Country that his wife Kaitlyn is expecting their third in September. Prior to the start of Country Radio Seminar in Nashville in February, both men celebrated a daddy-daughter day.

“You only get those moments once, where your little girl is gonna walk, or your little girl is crawling for the first time," Brust says. "You’re not gonna try to drive the LoCash train during that couple of days."

Ultimately, Brothers Osborne won the ACM in the category LoCash was nominated for. There's a strong case for both, but after years of being dismissed, the duo has accepted that accolades are not the end goal. If either of them ever gets down on himself, the band or the industry, it doesn't last.

“We can lean on each other’s energy. We can lean on each other’s spirit," Brust says. "When one of us is having  a little more of a jaded day, the other would be ‘Hey man, we gotta shake it off.'"

"Ring on Every Finger" is the third single from the duo's latest album, The Fighters. They say they may release one more, but are also working on songs for their next album. Because of course they are.
