This song has touched so many people, and everybody has their own memory with 'God Bless The USA'. On this Memorial day, let's reflect on what it does for you.

I'll go ahead and start...

Our family went through a loss of my younger brother in 2004, in the war in Afghanistan. Every year we were invited to spend the weekend at a resort in Brainerd for a gathering of the Minnesota "Gold Star Families". There's a restaurant and bar in the resort that started up karaoke that night, and I saw they had "God Bless The USA", so I sang it. Because most of the people there were Gold Star Families, it got everybody's attention. After I finished singing it everybody was standing, clapping, and many tears. It was both emotional and amazing, and I'll never forget that experience.

Here are a couple responses that have come in:

I have many memories with this song, not recent memories, just story's I have been told through out the years. I was much too young to serve as a solider, but old enough to feel the loss of many. Could not have ever endured the many things these young men and women went through to protect the very freedom we have. The loss of so many men and women just to protect what we, as Americans, take for granted each and every day.

This from a mother, put simply:

As a mother, my son coming home to me.

Now it's your turn! Keep them coming and I'll update this throughout the day today (Memorial Day).
