St. Cloud State captain Drew LeBlanc was honored Friday night as the winner of the 2013 Hobey Baker Award.

Huskies head coach Bob Motzko said the decision LeBlanc made to return for a second senior season helped everyone on the team.

Motzko went on to say the LeBlanc was not only one of the best players on the ice, he was a great leader and hard worker off the ice.

LeBlanc's fellow senior Ben Hanowski, who recently signed a pro contract with the Calgary Flames, says LeBlanc was a great teammate that clearly improved in his years at SCSU.

The Hermantown native LeBlanc had to make a lengthy recovery from a horrific broken leg suffered early last season. He described the injury as "sad," but was able to recover fully to have a monster senior year.

LeBlanc got emotional when asked about his connection with the Husky hockey fans in central Minnesota.
