I don't know about you but I'm more than ready to hit the water this year.  Fishing opener is just a little over a week away, but the lack of snow and rain may have a negative impact on that and other water activities this year.

According to a story from WCCO, a good portion of the state is suffering from mild drought conditions.  Shorelines are extremely low compared to last year at this time, which has an effect on actually getting your boat in the water.

I see the Mississippi River several times on my way to and from work.  You can tell how low it is based on the all the rocks/boulders you see popping out.  Personally, I'm hoping we can get some good rain before fishing opener.  Even though I don't go out that weekend and I don't bait my own hook, I still want to be able to enjoy the lake and maybe catch myself a 'great big one.'

Not only is this tough for people wanting to go fishing but it also puts a damper on some of the other lake activities people enjoy.  I love to go tubing and while I can't say from experience, I don't think it would be quite as fun to fly out of the tube and hit the bottom of the lake.  I'd rather get bounced off of a few waves instead!
