Never-mind the 'Brown Christmas,' Minnesota kids are heading into their winter break with many outdoor December activities unavailable for winter fun.

Skating, snow-shoeing, skiing, sledding, snowmobiling, ice-fishing and more are on hold for a large part as we ease into the 2018 Christmas break.

For the kids that get skates, sleds, and skis from Santa -- the lack of Old Man Winter's presence will be even harder to take.

Lake George remains closed for skating in St. Cloud, as well as many rinks around Central Minnesota.

Powder Ridge Ski Area near Kimball, which has been making snow, is reporting that all runs are open, with their tubing hill opening this Saturday.

Minnesota's DNR reminds us that lake ice is NEVER 100% safe, and with the recent warm weather, skating and fishing is something we need to be very careful about.
