ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Anglers can keep trout they catch in Minnesota streams beginning Saturday.

But, lake trout remain off limits until May 14. Anglers have already been fishing stream trout in Minnesota and Wisconsin for months during the catch-and-release seasons.

Biologists say the trout population is healthy enough in most designated streams to handle the harvest.

Reports say if trout under 10 inches are harvested from streams with large fish populations, the other trout will have more food and can grow larger.
