I was on my way to Elk River the other day when I heard the siren and saw the flashing lights.  In that moment I knew I was busted.

Have you ever heard that saying, "when it rains, it pours?"  That was pretty much my Tuesday.  My car needed to go in to the shop for some repairs last week and I had to get a rental car, which was a huge debacle in itself.  Wouldn't you think if you make a rental reservation, they'd actually have a car for you?

Anyway, my car was finished Tuesday so what I wanted to do was take the rental up to Princeton, where my car was being repaired and leave it up there for them to pick up.  It's been done before and I figured it was the least they could do since it was such a fiasco to get the car.  Big shocker, for whatever reason they wouldn't let me do it.

I left work and I was more than a little frustrated.  I had to go from St. Cloud to Elk River to Princeton and back home.  So, I'm driving on Highway 10 and all of a sudden I see the cop.  I honestly didn't know I was speeding, I missed where it drops from 65 to 60 mph but I slowed down anyway.

He pulls out, his siren is on and his lights are flashing.  It was definitely one of those "oh crap," moments.  There were many things running through my mind in that moment, including a number of four letter words.

The officer was certainly very nice but he did end up issuing me a ticket for doing 71 mph in a 60 mph zone.  I was a little surprised that I didn't get a warning but maybe that's a thing of the past since fines are an excellent way to build revenue in a floundering economy.

Now, I'm stuck with a $135 fine and I'm trying to figure out how to keep it off my driving record.  Any suggestions will be appreciated!
