I'm all about being unique when it comes to naming your baby but I think it goes a bit too far sometimes.

According to a TIME article a baby recently born in France and named Nutella cannot be named Nutella.  Nutella, of course, is the popular chocolate/hazelnut spread.  It was for that very reason the judge said she could not be named that and the court also felt it would lead to her being made fun of in the future.

I see where the judge is coming from, although I don't know that a court should be able to dictate what you name your child.  It's a difficult issue because I can see it from both sides.  What I don't agree with is the judge going on to name the child Ella.  Regardless of the fact that you ruled against her parents, they should still be able to choose an appropriate name for her.

What do you think?  Is Nutella a horrible name?  Should the court have been able to name the child?
