Jason Aldean was named the Male Vocalist of the Year at the 2015 ACM Awards on Sunday (April 19), but that accomplishment pales in comparison to his excitement for life with his new wife, Brittany Kerr.

While talking with People in the ACMs press room, the talented singer couldn't stop gushing about his beautiful bride. "Yesterday was a month in," he says. "It's been great, we've been on the road pretty much the whole time since we got married. We've gone all over the country and Europe for 10 days."

Aldean, 38, married Kerr, 27, in Mexico in March. The pair were first spotted together in 2012, and got engaged in September 2014. Aldean says his new bride has been a positive light in his life.

"She keeps me a little more focused and grounded, which is what I need in my life for sure," the singer shares. Aldean was all smiles as he talked about how Kerr inspires him to be a better man.

After being named the Male Vocalist, Aldean thanked Kerr and his two daughters for their love and support. He was competing against fellow country superstars Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Dierks Bentley, Blake Shelton and Brad Paisley for the award, and Sunday marked his third time winning.

"Never in a million years did I think I'd be part of this show or winning awards — are you kidding me?" Aldean says. "But the American dream is alive and kicking, and I'm proof that it can be."
