Jason Aldean Insists He and Eric Church Aren’t Outlaws
Jason Aldean and Eric Church may appear to be two of country music’s biggest rebels, with their rambunctious attitudes and rocking songs. Turns out they’re really just two guys who are trying to have a whole lot of fun.
Although the two singers performed at Keith Urban‘s We’re All for the Hall Benefit Concert, which was themed ‘Rebels & Renegades: The Outlaws Are IN,’ and featured country music’s more rebellious artists, they’re not rebels all the time…or even some of the time.
According to Country Weekly, ACM Male Vocalist of the Year Aldean admitted that he’s often labeled as an outlaw, saying with a laugh, “I guess I kinda get stuck with that a little bit sometimes.” However, he insists it’s just the way his music comes across. “I think just because my music, the way it is, just kinda having that little bit of an aggressive sound,” he says. “I think people just kind of look at it that way. But I think that’s the case for a lot of guys.”
Aldean brought up his fellow country peer Church, who recently won Album of the Year, and is often attired in aviators and a leather jacket, adding to his tough-guy appeal. The ‘1994’ hitmaker muses, “I mean, Eric’s the same way. I know Eric. He ain’t an outlaw. He likes to have fun, but he ain’t an outlaw. We’re all just a bunch of partiers. We like to have fun, play music.”
Whether or not they’re the next Jesse James, it’s clear that Aldean and Church are doing something right, after receiving some of the most coveted awards at the 2013 ACMs, and turning in solid performances.
