Jana Kramer got a very unexpected gift on her birthday -- a romantic proposal!

The singer-songwriter turned 31 on Tuesday (Dec. 2), and she spent the whole day celebrating with her boyfriend, Michael Caussin. At the end of the evening, Caussin gathered a small group of family and friends together and surprised Kramer with an engagement ring.

“It was a beautiful surprise,” Kramer shares. “He was the perfect gentleman. Nervous, on one knee, and surrounded by some of the people that love us the most.”

Kramer is best-known to many from her role on TV's 'One Tree Hill,' but country fans know her for her music. She released her self-titled debut album in 2012 and took home the ACM's New Female Vocalist of the Year in 2013. She recently released 'Love,' the lead single from her forthcoming sophomore album. Kramer was previously engaged to Brantley Gilbert, and before that she was briefly married to Michael Gambino in 2004 and actor Johnathon Schaech in 2010.

Caussin played tight end at James Madison University and went on to play for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills and Washington Redskins. He is currently a free agent.

The happy couple have not announced a wedding date.
