The 8th annual ACM Honors are right around the corner, and one excited country star has been selected to host the event. Jake Owen will lead the evening of awards and music.

While the actual ACM Awards show has passed, the awards keep on coming. The ACM Honors are a presentation of acknowledgements that happen off-camera after the ACMs roll up their red carpet. Owen will host the night that presents several prizes to influential people in country music.

"I couldn’t be more proud to host the ACM Honors," Owen shares. "I’m blessed to be a part of country music, and to join in recognizing these incredible artists, musicians and industry executives is a true honor."

The 2014 ACM Honors awards show will take place on Sept. 9 at Nashville's legendary Ryman Auditorium. Stars like Carrie UnderwoodMerle HaggardToby KeithRascal Flatts and Ronnie Milsap will all take home trophies during the night.

Several songwriters will also be honored, including Kris Kristofferson. Keith and Milsap are slated for Career Achievement Awards, while te Flatts will receive the Jim Reeves International Award.

As for the host, Owen is quickly becoming a staple in country music. Not only is he converting people who were once skeptics of the genre into fans, but his last few singles -- namely 'Days of Gold' and 'Beachin'' -- have done so well, the singer been asked to be the face of this special event.
