I guess I've been eating spaghetti wrong my entire life, but I'm not really surprised.

I usually try to cut and chop my noodles before I scoop them onto my fork. I pretty much skip the "spoon" step altogether. Somehow, I don't think my way is any less messy.

Now, "Life" magazine is saying there's actually a proper way you're supposed to eat the Italian dish. It's not really anything new either, these rules were established in the 1940s.

Ready to learn the right way?

You're supposed to take your fork and separate out four strands of spaghetti. Next, you're supposed to gracefully twirl the noodles into the spoon.

Make sure you do the last step well enough so that the noodles are secure because you're supposed to be able to put the entire fork full in your mouth. If you're nibbling or taking bites, you're doing it wrong.

Also, they note that you CAN slurp up the noodles if you need to. (How is this better than chopping them up into little pieces and eating them with just a fork?)

Now that you know you're doing it wrong, continue on. Anyone who cares that you're eating your spaghetti like a five-year-old has issues.
