The St. Cloud State men's hockey team (12-13-1) lost in overtime to the University of Minnesota-Duluth (17-5-4) 2-1 last night in overtime of the North Star Cup final at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

The Huskies scored late in the first period, before the Bulldogs evened it up early in the third. UMD scored the game-winner six minutes into the sudden-death overtime.

The Huskies had beaten Bemidji State on Friday to advance to the final. UMD had knocked off the Gophers. This was the final year for the annual North Star Cup tournament.

Next up for the Huskies: at North Dakota this Friday (2/3) and Saturday (2/4).
