The St. Cloud State Huskies men's hockey team (31-8-1) beat the UMD Bulldogs (18-15-5) 3-1 last night at the Target Center to claim the 2016 NCHC Frozen Face-off Championship -- and as a result receiving an automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA tournament.

UMD took a 1-0 lead in the first period, before Mikey Eyssimont scored twice, and Patrick Russell added SCSU's third goal of the night. The victory was goalie Charlie Lindgren's 51st as a Husky.

The sixteen team field for the 2016 NCAA Tournament will be revealed on ESPNU this morning at 11:00. NCAA regional play will begin next weekend in St. Paul, MN, Albany, NY,  Cincinnati, OH, and Worcester, MA -- with the Frozen Four set to take place in Tampa, FL April 7th-9th.

Go Huskies!
