I love food. Sometimes, I love food more than I like most people. I eat with gusto and love to play with recipes. Here are a few ways to give the gift of food.

These ideas are just a few of the many ways you can give the gift of food. It's a unique way to say you care.

Rub Set

I was recently introduced to the wonders of Memphis Dust by my neighbor. It tastes great on pork and even beef. Show someone you care by giving them Memphis Dust. It's perfect for someone who's the King of the Grill or who loves their meat smoker. Aside from Memphis Dust, another great rub is Caribbean Jerk seasoning. The allspice berry, scotch bonnet peppers and thyme all marry in layers of complex flavors. I fell in love with authentic jerk seasonings when I went to Jamaica the first time. The American version often times just goes for heat and shock rather than doing things the right way with flavor first and heat as a secondary element with the dish. You can put the rubs in decorated tins and neatly write which rub is in which tin with a recipe to make their own or a coupon for replenishment.

BBQ Set

Speaking of King of the Grill, Glen and my dad are both masters when it comes to cooking with fire. If you have someone in your life that’s into grilling, a tool set with a spatula, brush, mitts, apron, skewers and sauces. You could even make your own sauces and bundle this with the rub set.

Hot Chocolate Bombs

I know it sounds weird, but just trust me on this one. Hot chocolate bombs are just what they sound like, it’s super easy to make a lot of them and they’re delicious. All you need is melting chocolate, cream, sugar, salt, vanilla extract plus mini marshmallows and candy cane chunks for rolling. Drop them in a mug of hot milk and stir. Get all of the directions and more yummy recipes from Cup of Cake. Also, it never hurts to attach an airplane bottle of Bailey’s just in case. You could also decorate a plain mug set and attach that as well.

Flavor Infused Booze

I don’t drink, but encourage responsible consumption among my family and friends. If you have someone on your gift list that’s a fan of gourmet cocktails or martinis, flavor infused vodka is very popular. Cranberry lime is a very seasonal taste. Candy flavored vodka is fun, too. Try placing red hots or jelly beans in a mason jar of vodka and then straining it into a pretty bottle and decorating the bottle with a pretty label and a ribbon. A hot brandy is quite tasty this time of year. Try making your own fruit infused brandy with apricots or peaches. Include a pretty set of glasses or Instagram coasters.
