As I was getting ready for work this morning I realized it had been a few weeks since I replaced my toothbrush. I like to get a new one about every three weeks just to keep things fresh, but it made me wonder how often I actually should be replacing things like that in my bathroom! Here are what the experts have to say on the subject!

Tooth Brush - The pros at Colgate say that they should be replaced every three to four months. That is a long time!!!! I have been ditching mine prematurely. They do advise you to replace it sooner if you have been sick.

Loofahs - AKA Bacteria Trapper Keepers. Loofahs are great for scrubbing and exfoliating but in order for them to do their job, they need to be cleaned once a week by soaking it in a diluted bleach solution for 5 minutes and then rinsing it. It is recommended you replace them every three to four weeks.

Bath Towels - Towels can be used about three times before they need washing. But in order for that to be valid, you need to make sure you hang them up to dry. Towels that sit in a wet pile on the bathroom floor just get straight up nasty.

Shower Curtain - You need to replace this rarely, especially if you keep it clean. The experts recommend rubbing it down with a mild detergent weekly or monthly. If you stay on top of it you can go about a year before having to replace it!

Toilet Brush - This isn't an item I like to keep for a long period of time. After all you can get them in bulk at the dollar store. Depending on how often it gets used, the average time to keep them is about 6 months according to Hunker.

Bath Mat - Bathplanet says that these can last about 2 years. They are built to last and as long as you regularly clean it, it should hold up for you!

Anyone else have the urge to clean and replace after reading this list? I know what I am doing after work tonight!
