When I was a kid we prayed for a huge snow storm to completely stop school in our district! I wasn't exactly sure how much snow it would take, but I knew it was a lot.

A website called The Atlantic created a U.S. map that indicates how much snow in each state it would take to shut down school.

In Minnesota, depending on where you are, it takes anywhere from 12 inches to 24 inches of snow to cancel school.

The map can be a little misleading because schools factor in a few other reasons like wind chill factor, temperature and snow accumulation. But still--if you want school to be canceled this year we need to aim for at least 12 inches!

We don't really have snow in the forecast until mid-week and it doesn't look like we'll be getting anything close to what we need to shut things down. Sorry, kids!
