The Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm underachieved and battled key injuries in 2011 and finished with a 2-7 record including a 42-16 loss to Alexandria in the first round of the section playoffs.  The Storm are focused on improvement with head coach Bill Magnuson.

Magnuson talks with Jay Caldwell and Lee Voss on AM 1390-the Fan.

Sauk Rapids-Rice will start Joel Haller at quarterback with Chris Keske seeing time as the primary tailback.  Magnuson likes the improvements he’s seen in team speed expecially on the offensive line and with his receivers.  A key new addition is Bismarck, North Dakota transfer Brandon Morrison who Magnuson plans to play at both receiver and running back.

The Storm begin the 2012 season at home against Fergus Falls on August 31.  The Storm then play at Cambridge-Isanti and Sartell-St. Stephen in consecutive weeks before returning home against Tech on September 21.  Sauk Rapids-Rice will play at Rocori on September 29, will host Apollo on October 5, will play at Bemidji on October 12 and will close the regular season on October 17 against Willmar at home.
